I arrived in Bristol in May 1989 & met Tim within my first week - a night out drinking around Park Street with Ian W, Andy G & others.
The same year we started Tuesday night 5 a side football, Tim retired about 8 years ago, I didn’t last too much longer. I understand that Tuesday night football is still going! A great legacy!

Tim, Yob, Dodge & I got tickets for Liverpool v Rovers in the FA Cup 4th round replay. Tim & Yob supported Rovers, Dodge City & me Liverpool. Carl Saunders scored first, the Rovers end (except Dodge & I) went wild. Liverpool eventually won 2:1 & we drove 6 miles further North to my local for a few beers & a quick visit to my parents house afterwards.
Dodge’s stag weekend London.
We removed all of Tims decision making privileges after he chose the worst restaurant in Chinatown - all you can eat for £5!
Swindon Town
Through Tim, a game of football was organised at Swindon Town’s stadium. in reality, we got changed in the away dressing room & then had to walk miles to the pitch we were playing on - closer to Swindon Old Town!
So many happy memories: booze cruises, nights out drinking etc, there will never be another Blythie. He was a great character & I am privileged to be able to call him a friend. In recent years, I didn’t see him often (my regret) but we did speak occasionally.
Our sincere condolences to all.
Rest in peace mate, you never failed to entertain us, we will miss you.
Will Durman
Unlike Tim to settle for quantity instead of quality at the Chinese? And I seem to remember him acquiring a load of Swindon training gear on that visit too, Will? 😂
